Haven't worked with a proofreader or editor before? It's as easy as ABC. Click here to find out more about working together.
Are you an academic, student or training provider? You'll find my specialist educational services here.

Let's work together

For simplicity, I've divided my services into four options. In reality, though, each project is unique, so we can discuss a more flexible, bespoke approach based on your requirements.

Not sure if your project needs light proofreading or heavy editing (or something in between)? Don’t worry, we can work this out together.

1 Basic proofread

Happy with what you’ve written but need help to weed out those tricky, hard-to-spot errors and typos? This option’s for you.

This is the final quality control stage before your text is published. Includes essential checks for spelling, punctuation, grammar, consistency, sense and layout.

From £15 per 1,000 words.
Student discount: from £13 per 1,000 words.

2 Proofread deluxe

Looking for feedback on how to make your writing even better, but feel your words don’t need the deeper work that copy-editing involves? This option's probably for you.

It includes all the basics of a proofread, plus suggestions and advice to improve readability, clarity and structure.

From £17.50 per 1,000 words.

3 Copy-editing

If your writing needs some tender loving care, copy-editing is the answer. It involves reworking raw or draft text (known as ‘copy’).

As well as checking your spelling, punctuation and grammar, I'll highlight ambiguity and repetition, plus ensure consistency (of spelling, capitalisation, hyphenation and numbering). I'll also consider whether your writing style, tone and level are on target for your audience.

From £20 per 1,000 words.

4 Structural editing

Does your writing need major surgery? Structural editing (also called developmental editing) takes a step back to look at the wider picture.

I'll make sure your text has solid foundations by suggesting changes to content, organisation and flow, either by revising and reshaping your words directly or providing detailed
, constructive comments for you to tackle at your own pace.

A note on pricing and minimum charges

As every project is completely different, the prices mentioned here are just a guide. So, I may charge slightly less, or a little bit more, depending on the work required and the deadline.
For very small projects, I have a minimum charge. This starts at £45 for proofreading (£40 for students) and £50 for editing.
My prices reflect the suggested minimum rates recommended by the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).
